At Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, we acknowledge our responsibility to respect the environment and reduce our carbon footprint for the benefit of the community in which we operate. We are committed to managing our impact while exploring new and innovative ways to minimise wastage and protect our environment.

Key strategies include the reuse of spirit and wine bottles as water bottles, participation in a return-and-earn program with proceeds donated to charity, managing food wastage through a partnership with Winnow, and using a co-mingling waste system to reduce overall waste. Other measures include implementing a digital guest directory, using reusable packaging for fresh food deliveries, regenerating seafood delivery tubs into string, and serving mints in recyclable paper boxes that are made into biodiesel.

Furthermore, we are proud of our commitment to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. This is evident through the installation of a 100KW photovoltaic (solar panel) system, the replacement of downlights and tubes with LED alternatives, and the successful operation of an electric vehicle charging stations. The resort also utilizes a gas-operated co-generation unit to supply energy to various facilities, with the generated heat directed towards heating the swimming pool and potable water. Additionally, efforts to reduce energy usage are ongoing, including the installation of energy-efficient water pumps, inverter air-conditioning units, and variable speed drive units on chilled water pumps.

Overall, these initiatives showcase a multifaceted approach to sustainability, encompassing waste reduction, energy efficiency, and the adoption of renewable energy sources.
