Cathedral Rock National Park

Cathedral Rock National Park is great for walking, camping and birdwatching. Slightly east of Armidale and west of Dorrigo on the New England Tablelands, the park is 80 kilometres from the Powerhouse Hotel Armidale by Rydges and should take 1 hour to get to. It’s an easy and scenic drive along Waterfall Way – just follow the B78 for approximately 70 kilometres until you get to Round Mountain Road.

If you love hiking, then the Cathedral Rock National Park is a great way for you to see the park’s main boulder piles of Woolpack Rocks and Cathedral Rock. From there, you can absorb the spectacular views of the dry eucalypt forest and rugged granite outcrops. Whether you’re visiting with family or friends, remember to bring your camera and capture the incredible views of the rock formations. They look at their best as the sun is beginning to set.

The park is also famous for its birdwatching. You might be able to catch sight of black cockatoos, an endangered turquoise parrot, or the wedge-tailed eagle, Australia’s largest bird of prey.
